8/24/2023 0 Comments Flashing battery light![]() The small bearing (Nachi- Made in Japan) - price 7.88$. The big bearing (Nachi - Made in Japan) - price 7.88$ I got my replacement bearings from these guys the Chinese cheap stuff will not last long. Good bearings (USA, Japan, Germany) should be used. You will have to know exactly what the model of your alt is, because the bearings can be different in size. If you do it, change also the front & rear bearings. If it's bad (tested) just get the p/n and replace it. The regulator with brushes should look similar to this pic: They will be short and will barely make contact. If the brushes are almost toast, this is easy to spot. Just driving the car, the faulty one will bite the dust and the light will stay on solid. And because it's flickering, it's intermittent, so if it's one of the diodes, it's hard to tell. Is there a way to verify if that indeed is the case before I order a new one?īTW, my alternator is air cooled, so should be easier to deal with.Only pulled out and checked. That happened about two months ago and the light was off for a while and then started flickering after the car came back from service.Īny ideas? I guess I should really spend time and physically check all fuses. ![]() I replaced the fuse and the light went off, the diag connector works fine as well. One thing that did happen was me accidentally shortening two pins in the round diag connector under the hood, which caused a blown fuse and the battery light came on. Does not seem to be RPM or load dependent, happens when idling as well as at high RPM. I read somewhere that a faulty oil level sensor can cause a short and cause the light to come on tried unplugging the sensor, but the light still flickered. The fuses seem to be OK, I looked over and did not see any blown. The alternator seems to be fine as well, I ran cluster test 9, and the voltage is usually at 14V. I measured the voltage with the car off and it's about 12V. The battery is about two years old and it holds charge just fine. Also I noticed that sometimes it appears half lit and not flickering. The light is flickering with different frequency at different times, sometimes it would not flicker at all, but at other times it would flicker like once a second roughly. If the flashing continues, then the battery may need to be replaced. This started about a month ago. Afterwards, try charging the battery again. Refer to the rechargeable battery does not charge properly using the supplied battery charger article for details. The slow flash should stop after a short while or after the temperature returns to a suitable range between 50☏ and 86☏ (10☌ and 30☌).įast flashing indicates a poor connection between the battery and charger or a problem with the battery pack. Slow flashing occurs if the battery has not been charged for a long time or if the environmental temperature is not suitable for charging the battery. The CHARGE lamp may flash fast (multiple times a second) or slow (around 1.5 second intervals), depending on the cause. There is a problem with the battery pack. There is a poor connection between the battery and charger. The battery pack has not been used for a long time. The environmental temperature is too cold to charge the battery pack. The CHARGE light may flash for the following reasons:
